Watch Cyndi Lauper join Panic! At The Disco to perform ‘Girls Just Want To Have Fun’

This September marks 35 years since Cyndi Lauper released her version of ‘Girls Just Want To Have Fun’. Now, the new wave icon has teamed up with Panic! At The Disco for a live rendition of her breakthrough single.

Panic! At The Disco are currently touring the US in support of their latest album, the ARIA chart-topping Pray For The Wicked. Of course, with a huge record such as that behind them, it’s understandable that the group would try and bring out the big guns on the live stage.

Performing in Long Island, New York on Friday night, the group played a marathon 28-song set which featured a handful of covers including Queen’s ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’, Bonnie Raitt’s ‘I Can’t Make You Love Me’, and a rousing version of Robert Hazard’s ‘Girls Just Want To Have Fun’.

However, it was the group’s performance of the latter that drew the most applause, with Panic! At the Disco bringing out New York native Cyndi Lauper to join in on their rendition of the track that she made famous.

With frontman Brendon Urie matching Cyndi Lauper’s high notes with unquestionable professionalism, it undoubtedly makes us wonder if he’ll be bringing out any local superstars for a guest appearance when the group hit up Aussie shores in October.

Of course, this performance comes only a matter of days after Panic! At The Disco covered Weezer’s ‘Say It Ain’t So’, making us wish more and more that Panic might end up recording a cover album sooner rather than later. Let’s face it, we won’t complain about any new recordings from the group.
