Tool Have Finally Headed Into The Studio Together To Record Their New Album

Tool have delivered some of the most promising news yet in the long road to their new album.

A statement posted on their Facebook confirms that the band have moved into the studio and are ready to record their next album.

“After all the years of writing and arranging (and re-arranging) at the band’s loft, I can at this time officially report that the guys have moved into a major studio where the recording process for the next album is about to begin in earnest,” the statement reads.

“For the past few days the band members have been getting sonically adjusted to their new surroundings – dialing in the equipment settings and restaurant catering choices – in preparation for Danny to begin his tracking any time now – perhaps by the time that you read this!”

The post also confirmed that Joe Baressi will once again engineer the record. He worked with the band on their last album 10,000 Days which dropped 12 years ago.

“Pinch yourself if you want, but I have been told that all systems are GO at this point for the upcoming sessions,” the post also said which is the most promising sentence we’ve heard about the band’s new music in a very long time.

At last update, frontman James Maynard Keenan had confirmed that he’d finished all the words and melodies.

“Someday we’ll track them,” he said at the time.

Well, it seems that day has finally come.

Drummer Danny Carey said last year that the album would be out this year but Keenan shut it down. The fact that they are all in the studio right now working on it gives us hope that it could be out this year.
