Melbourne Zoo Launches New After Dark Spectacular

Zoos Victoria has launched a new after dark event inside the lush grounds of Melbourne Zoo. For two weeks in April, Melbourne Zoo will be transformed into an interactive Neon Playground, where you can enjoy breathtaking projections and laser art, meet giant glowing puppets and explore their giant neon maze.

Journey through dynamic laser art by internationally renowned artist Robin Fox along the historic Main Drive and learn about Zoos Victoria's work in fighting the extinction of 21 local threatened species, including the Southern Corroboree Frog through the stunning neon artwork of Carla O'Brien.

Children's authour Graeme Base will also be involved, bringing his beloved Waterhole book characters to life as giant illuminated puppets. If you're feeling adventurous Neon Playground will also feature a labyrinth filled neon maze, boasting 600 metres of LED neon suspended from the ground. You know where I'll be!

The event will also host a bunch of delicious food trucks, pop-up bars and even a Relaxoland to rest your tired feet.

To sweeten the deal, all proceeds from the event will go towards Zoos Victoria's work with raising awareness and funds for the Southern Corroboree Frog. With only 100 of the distinctive yellow and black amphibians left in the wild, you'll definitely be supporting a worthy cause.

Neon Playground runs every night from 5.30 - 9.30 pm from Friday, April 12 to Saturday, April 27. For more details visit the Neon Playground event page
